Event-triggered stabilization of disturbed linear systems over digital channels

چکیده
We present an event-triggered control strategy for stabilizing a scalar, continuous-time, time-invariant, linear system over a digital communication channel having bounded delay, and in the presence of bounded system disturbance. We propose an encoding-decoding scheme, and determine lower bounds on the packet size and on the information transmission rate which are sufficient for stabilization. We show that for small values of the delay, the timing information implicit in the triggering events is enough to stabilize the system with any positive rate. In contrast, when the delay increases beyond a critical threshold, the timing information alone is not enough to stabilize the system and the transmission rate begins to increase. Finally, large values of the delay require transmission rates higher than what prescribed by the classic data-rate theorem. The results are numerically validated using a linearized model of an inverted pendulum.

Event-triggered control under time-varying rate and channel blackouts
This paper studies event-triggered stabilization of linear time-invariant systems over time-varying rate-limited communication channels. We explicitly account for the possibility of channel blackouts, i.e., intervals of time when the communication channel is unavailable for feedback. Assuming prior knowledge of the channel evolution, we study the data capacity, which is the maximum total number...
متن کاملEvent-Triggered Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Sensing and Actuation Delay
This paper studies the problem of stabilization of a single-input nonlinear system with time-varying delays in both sensing and actuation channels using event-triggered control. Our proposed strategy seeks to opportunistically minimize the communication cost of stabilization and its design uses predictor feedback to compensate for arbitrarily large known time-varying delays. We establish, using...
متن کاملAnalysis of Applying Event-triggered Strategy on the Model Predictive Control
In this paper, the event-triggered strategy in the case of finite-horizon model predictive control (MPC) is studied and its advantages over the input to state stability (ISS) Lyapunov based triggering rule is discussed. In the MPC triggering rule, all the state trajectories in the receding horizon are considered to obtain the triggering rule. Clearly, the finite horizon MPC is sub-optimal with ...
متن کاملModel-based periodic event-triggered control for linear systems
Periodic event-triggered control (PETC) is a control strategy that combines ideas from conventional periodic sampled-data control and event-triggered control. By communicating periodically sampled sensor and controller data only when needed to guarantee stability or performance properties, PETC is capable of reducing the number of transmissions significantly, while still retaining a satisfactor...
متن کاملDecentralized Integral-Based Event-Triggered Stabilization for Linear Plant with Actuator Saturation and Output Feedback
This paper studies the integral-based event-triggered asymptotic stabilization for a continuous-time linear plant. Both actuator saturation and observer-based output feedback are considered. The sensors and actuators are implemented in a decentralized manner and a type of Zeno-free decentralized integral-based event condition is designed to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop ...
